Fans should enjoy CM Punk in the ring while they still can, as the former WWE World Champion knows that the end of his career is coming.
Speaking to Jackie Redmond ahead of this weekend’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, Punk was candid about his future in the ring. He said,
“I never know when my last match is going to be, and you see guys like John Cena doing a full-blown retirement tour. I look at myself like I’m on the same road as John, maybe just not egotistical enough to announce to everybody, ‘Hey, this is it.’”
In the interview, Punk clarified that he is feeling “great” though last year’s injury showed him that his career could “all end in a heartbeat.”
Punk’s torn triceps injury ultimately robbed him of the chance to compete at WrestleMania 40, what would’ve been his first WrestleMania since 2013.
CM Punk will be a part of this weekend’s men’s Royal Rumble match. The former World Champion has yet to win the 30-man contest.
