During a recent appearance on the “Not Sam Wrestling” podcast, Dominik Mysterio recalled the January match on WWE RAW where JD McDonagh suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs while battling the War Raiders.
Mysterio took some responsibility for McDonagh finishing the match despite his condition. He said,
“That’s on me, too. There are a couple of things in that match that I should’ve done better. Sorry, JD. After he was already f*cked up, we were getting close to where I hit the 619 and we had planned the 619 and JD moonsault, but he told me, ‘I can’t do the moonsault.’ In my head, I’m like, ‘You gotta do the f*cking moonsault.’ In my head, I’m not going to beat Ivar’s fata*s with just a 619 and frogsplash, I have to hit him with more.”
He continued, “I hit the 619 and I’m running and JD is [in pain]. I was already running, but he committed. I love that guy. I was like, ‘I’m so sorry.’ He’s like, [miming catching his breath] ‘Oh, you’re good brother.’ He finished the match, but it was bad. He’s such a trooper. I love that dude.”
McDonagh returned to action last week on WWE RAW after WrestleMania.
During a recent interview with Michael Fairman ahead of WrestleMania 41, WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria expressed her desire to appear in the upcoming episode of WWE SmackDown, which is scheduled for August 22 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, as part of WWE’s Road to Clash in Paris.
Valkyria said, “It’s always great to go home, I know we’ve got a SmackDown in Dublin in August, so I would absolutely love to get the chance to go and be on that with this on my shoulder. Maybe with another one around my waist.”
