On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff claimed that Vince McMahon had been especially hard on Kevin Owens in WWE. He said,
“I don’t want to give the impression that we’re real close friends… I got fairly close to him in WWE during his program with Shane McMahon, I was kind of in the middle of that, and at that point in time, Vince was being really hard on him.
“I mean really hard, and Kevin was doing his absolute best to make it work. I saw it, I saw what he was going through, and I saw the way Vince treated him.”
Bischoff later clarified that McMahon’s treatment wasn’t malicious but was the former WWE CEO’s idea of “coaching” the Canadian wrestler.
Nevertheless, Bischoff said that it was “tough to watch, tough to listen to,” based on what he’s heard from McMahon’s handling of Owens backstage.
Addressing Owens missing WrestleMania 41 and possibly missing next year’s event, Bischoff said he feels horrible for the former Universal Champion.
