Fightful Select is reporting that multiple sources have confirmed that WWE President Nick Khan personally stepped in to oversee negotiations for R-Truth’s return, corroborating previously reported timelines.
Initial outreach to R-Truth reportedly stalled until Khan got involved — after which talks began gaining momentum. Sources emphasized once again that Truth’s original release was legitimate and not part of a storyline.
It’s rare for Khan to involve himself directly in talent negotiations, but this particular situation was viewed as significant — both for the company and for locker room morale.
One high-ranking WWE official described Truth’s return as a “win for the locker room and fanbase,” citing the overwhelming internal support as a key factor in reversing the decision. As expected, his return has been met with major enthusiasm backstage.
Several WWE talents who spoke directly with Truth and company officials were also told the release and comeback storyline was not a work.
Sources close to Truth, including members of his family, indicated that the deal to bring him back came together late in the week.
While no concrete creative plans are finalized, it is said that R-Truth — real name Ron Killings — has expressed interest in a more serious in-ring run before retiring.
After his initial release, other promotions like TNA and GCW quickly showed interest in signing him, though the exact terms and length of his new WWE deal remain undisclosed.
