We have a few additional details to report on the arrest of Artem Chigvintsev on charges of felony domestic battery.
At around 8:30 AM PST on Thursday, a call was made from the home of Chigvintsev and his wife, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Garcia (Nikki Bella), to report a “medical emergency.” As of this writing, there is no word on who made the call.
As paramedics and the fire department were en route, someone from the same house called 911 to cancel the request. At that point, paramedics and the fire department returned to their stations.
Police did arrive at the home, as per usual when someone calls 911. At 10:00 AM PST, Artem was arrested for felony corporal injury to spouse or cohabitant. For the arrest to be a felony, the injury must be visible.
Additionally, TMZ is reporting that the alleged victim in the case is cooperating with police. It is said that police are interested to know whether there’s a history of domestic violence between the two people involved. As we previously reported here on eWn, the victim in the case has asked for total confidentiality. So while we can’t and won’t name Nikki as the victim, you can draw your own conclusions here.
While the victim has been talking to law enforcement, they are planning follow-up interviews with both sides to see if there is a history of past incidents. Additionally, it is said that a child may have witnessed the incident.
Finally, Chigvintsev posted a $25,000 bail and was released from jail at 2:18 PM PST.
