Vince McMahon may be persona non grata in wrestling today, but there’s still reportedly plenty of support for him in the wrestling scene.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, there is still support for McMahon despite the several controversies to his name. He said,
“Speaking with wrestlers off-the-record, there is a great deal of support for McMahon, as many note that McMahon is still held in high regard.”
McMahon left WWE in 2024 following Janel Grant’s lawsuit, though has claimed that the relationship he had with Grant was wholly consensual.
McMahon is also battling a lawsuit filed by former ring boys allegedly sexually assaulted by WWE staff, including Mel Phillips and Pat Patterson.
In a recent filing, McMahon and his estranged wife Linda, argued that they did not have a duty of care to protect underage boys from the alleged sexual assault.
Plaintiffs have until July 28 to respond to the dismissal motions, and the defense may file replies by August 27. A court hearing could follow.
