Jerry Lawler believes that Roman Reigns can now be WWE’s perfect babyface, despite his heel run and past efforts to get the fans to cheer him.
For years, WWE pushed Reigns as their top babyface, often to a hostile response from fans, before turning him heel in the summer of 2020.
On a recent edition of the “WrestleBinge” podcast, Lawler spoke about Reigns’ recent return to WWE and feud with The Bloodline. He said,
“I think he’s gonna be perfect. I think he’ll be the perfect babyface against those guys. When you say, ‘Oh, it’s worked out perfect,’ well, it’s worked out perfect in wrestling. It’s done it so many times. I know I’ve been in that same situation where you be a hot heel and then another heel comes along and they wanna see the old guy get rid of the young guy, and that’s what has happened here. It’s just classical wrestling stuff happening again.”
Upon his return to WWE programming at SummerSlam 2024, it was reported that Reigns was part of the babyface roster in WWE’s internal listings.
At WWE Bad Blood 2024, Rhodes teamed with WWE’s other top babyface, Cody Rhodes, to defeat Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.
On this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Reigns again showed signs of being a face, including acknowledging Jimmy Uso who returned to aid him at Bad Blood.
