The rivalry between Trick Williams and Joe Hendry has reached a fever pitch, to the point that NXT General Manager Ava and TNA Wrestling’s Director of Authority Santino Marella have come to an agreement for a special title match at WWE Battleground 2025.
On this week’s episode of WWE NXT, Williams interrupted the six-man tag team match Hendry had alongside Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, leading to a loss from DarkState.

To get some payback, Hendry distracted Williams during the 25-man battle royal, opening Williams up to being thrown out by TNA’s Elijah.

In Ava’s office, she told Hendry that this feud is disrupting the show and it has to stop. Hendry isn’t going to back down, so she said she and Marella agreed that for the first time ever, the TNA World Championship will be defended at WWE Battleground as Hendry puts the belt on the line against Williams.
