On a recent edition of his “Kliq This” podcast, Kevin Nash discussed Triple H facing a punishment for his role in the infamous ‘Curtain Call.’ He said,
“(Triple H) took the bullet. Shawn could have protected him but didn’t, and then when Shawn started to spiral through personal demons, Paul was there for him. … I know there was (animosity between Shawn and Hunter), yeah. I think there was on all of our ends, like ‘cause if anybody was untouchable, it was Shawn. Shawn was a champ.”
The incident took place at MSG in 1996 when Nash and Scott Hall posed with their real-life friends before leaving for WCW.
The character-breaking moment would see Triple H be punished, including having his King of the Ring win given to “Stone Cold” Steve Austin instead.
Austin’s 1996 tournament victory would launch his ‘Austin 3:16’ catchphrase, while Triple H wouldn’t win the crown until the following year.
