Kevin Owens didn’t grow up dreaming of headlining WrestleMania, as he was convinced for years that such a role wasn’t meant for a talent like him.
During a recent retrospective looking back at his best moments in WWE, Owens shared his early mentality to headlining WrestleMania. He said,
“To me, I’m like, I’m never gonna main event WrestleMania. That’s not gonna happen. If you ever hear me in an interview say, ‘My dream was always to main event WrestleMania,’ I’m full of s***. I’m lying. I never thought that was possible. But it happened twice.”
Owens would headline WrestleMania 38: Night One in 2022, losing to ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in the Rattlesnake’s first match since 2003.
One year later, Owens headlined WrestleMania 39: Night One where he and Sami Zayn dethroned Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos.
The Prizefighter made his WrestleMania debut in 2016, where he was part of an Intercontinental title ladder match won by Zack Ryder.
Owens’ next high-profile match in WWE will be at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he’ll challenge Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes.
