Fightful Select is reporting that there has been internal discussion regarding Jeff Cobb’s involvement in tonight’s Backlash 2025 pay-per-view event. As of Friday, he was tentatively scheduled to appear. At one point, WWE creative explored the idea of aligning Cobb with a storyline involving The Bloodline.
John Cena is expected to retain his championship beyond tonight, with current plans indicating his title reign will continue into the summer. Whether Cena defeats Randy Orton in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis or retains via disqualification, count-out, or another means remains to be seen.
Cathy Kelley has confirmed that she will not be part of tonight’s Backlash broadcast. The commentary team will consist of WWE RAW play-by-play announcer Michael Cole and SmackDown color commentator Wade Barrett in a two-man booth, as Pat McAfee will be competing in a match against GUNTHER.
For fans interested in stats and records – John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest are the only WWE Superstars to have competed at every pay-per-view event in 2025 so far. LA Knight currently holds the most televised wins this year, with 12 victories in 21 matches across TV and pay-per-view appearances.
