During a recent appearance on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, former WWE Superstar Layla commented on the importance of WWE NXT, what a writer told her in 2012 when she was pitching ideas, and more.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On WWE NXT: “I feel like ‘NXT’ is like a lifesaver, you know what I mean? It saves all these young wrestlers coming into the business. It helps them, it preps them. Even when I was there, I used to watch talent come up, and it was basically everyone’s watching to see are they going to sink or are they going to swim…To watch now and to see the characters already produced, everything, so when they come up to the main roster they should fly.”
On what a writer told her in 2012 when she was pitching ideas: “Even in, like, 2012 or 2011, when I was talking to a writer at the time, we were pitching ideas, this was after LayCool, the writer said to me, ‘Nah, they just tell us we don’t give a damn about the girls.’”
During a recent appearance on Sportskeeda’s “WrestleBinge” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle commented on John Cena’s heel turn, his belief that Cena will eventually turn babyface again, and more.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On John Cena turning heel: “It was brilliant. John has been out of the mix for a while, and I know he’s doing his retirement tour and it’s gonna be about a year, so he’s got a lot of time to do it. So, I think that him turning heel was a great idea because now the fans can cheer him on as he eventually makes his way back to babyface. It’s gonna happen.”
On how Cena will eventually turn babyface again: “When you turn heel and then you turn back baby, you can become even bigger, so I think that’s what they were thinking with John was, ‘Let’s make him bigger than he was before,’ which is really hard to do, but eventually it’s gonna happen and I think it’s a brilliant idea.”
