Lex Luger has shared that he was not jealous when Kevin Nash became WWE Champion, a title that Luger never officially held in WWE.

Luger seemed poised to win the gold in 1993 before plans changed, and his victory over then-Champion Yokozuna at SummerSlam would be via DQ.

Luger would again fail to win the gold at WrestleMania 10 in 1994, with the year ending with Kevin Nash as Diesel holding the gold.

On a recent edition of his “Lex Expressed” podcast, Luger was asked if he resented Nash for winning the gold he never did. He said,

“Zero. I was so happy for Kevin. I thought he’d be a great World Champion. So thrilled for him, for the opportunity. I never lost confidence in my career [about] where I was going to be or go.

“I always looked at myself as a main event guy. I pretty much had that for my 15-year-old career. So, zero ‘I wish that had been me or that should have been me’ in that regard at all. I was so happy for Kevin at the time.”

Nash’s nearly year-long reign would come at a downturn in WWE business and he’d lose the gold in November 1995 to Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart.

The closest Luger came to the WWE title was during a taping where Vince McMahon had Luger make an entrance with the title before handing it back.

Luger recently discussed working as a heel and face in wrestling, and which he preferred. Click here to check out what he had to say.
