John Cena delivered an intense promo on the June 20th episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, referencing CM Punk’s “Pipebomb” from 2011, calling Punk a “capitalist,” and mentioning Claudio Castagnoli, Nic Nemeth, and Matt Cardona.
Cena stated that Punk’s only advantage over him was being a “bullshi*ter.”
During a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry lavished praise on Cena’s pipebomb promo.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On how John Cena sat on the top turnbuckle during the pipebom: “He didn’t do exactly what Punk did with sitting down and crossing your legs, but I love the fact that he went up to the top of the turnbuckle, and he sat down, and the way that they shot it, they framed it so it looked like you were looking more up at him.”
On how Cena broke all the rules with his promo: “He looked right at the camera, hey I’m breaking the fourth wall. He’s doing all of the things that we are told not to do. He rebelled against the system, he rebelled against what was taught to us all these years, and I thought that it was genius.”
