During the June 20th episode of WWE SmackDown, John Cena cut a ‘pipebomb’ on CM Punk ahead of their WWE Championship clash next week.
Amid his segment, Cena made reference to Matt Cardona, with whom he shared the screen in late 2011 and 2012 during Punk’s first WWE run.
On Instagram, Cardona responded, making it clear that Cena’s mention of him did not go unnoticed.
Cardona was released from WWE in 2020 and has since reinvented himself as a top name on the independents as well as in TNA and elsewhere.
The former Zack Ryder has teased returning to WWE several times though has said that he would only return as Matt Cardona and not the Ryder character.
