During the post-WWE Money in the Bank 2025 press conference, Triple H suggested that R-Truth’s release and subsequent return was planned all along.

Since then, several sources, including Truth himself, have refuted Triple H’s comment, making it clear that Truth was actually let go and rehired.

On a recent edition of his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt Hardy weighed in on the two very different takes on the situation. He said,

“You know, I get where Hunter is coming from. He doesn’t want to come straight out and admit he’s wrong, he probably wants to try and leave — make it be as mysterious as possible like, oh, was it a work, was it a shoot? Who knows, let’s leave it kind of open-ended. Let’s leave it mysterious so people really don’t know.

“I almost feel like we’re at that time in pro wrestling where when you’re doing those post-show press conferences and you’re trying to be a legitimate to a degree, obviously you’re going to have characters come out and do character stuff, right? I think when you’re in Triple H’s role, you have to be as transparent as possible.”

Hardy added that if he were in Triple H’s boots, he would have been honest and shared how the fans’ love and support for Truth resulted in him being rehired.

On Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, Truth cut his dreadlocks and declared that Ron Killings is back, marking a notable shift from his comedic character.
