Megan Thee Stallion’s song “Neva Play” debuted on WWE SmackDown last Friday, marking her as the new artist for the show’s theme.
Pwinsider is reporting that Megan had agreed to collaborate with AEW wrestler Mercedes Mone prior to this.
In February, Megan and Mercedes met at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan and discovered they were fans of each other. This led to discussions between their respective teams.
Negotiations occurred between Megan’s manager, Mike B of Roc Nation, and Mercedes’ manager, Keven Undergaro, resulting in an agreement to work together.
Mone had previously hinted at a potential collaboration while promoting All In London 2024 and expressed her desire to have Megan involved in AEW. Moreover, they had discussed the possibility of collaborating in WWE in 2021.
Following Mone’s interview, WWE secured a deal with Megan to use her song for SmackDown, surprising Mone and her team.
Whether Mone and Megan will still collaborate remains uncertain.
