Duke Hudson (real name Brendan Vink) was released by WWE at some point in January.

Vink had originally signed with WWE in February 2019 and competed under four separate names during his time — his real name, as well as Elliot Sexton and Tony Modra, before settling on the Duke Hudson name.

Hudson bounced around between various different gimmicks and partners over the years, partially as a partner for Shane Thorne, an alliance with MVP, and trying out a character of a card shark with Duke’s Poker Room dealing out advice before eventually settling on being part of the Chase University team. Alongside Andre Chase, he would go on to be a one-time NXT tag team champion for only 21 days, but was a prominently featured player for the past several years.

As of this publication, no other information has been put out as far as exactly when or why Hudson was released, but with the dissolution of Chase U in November, it’s not surprising to see there were some people cut from that group, unfortunately. There is also still no word on the future of Thea Hail and Riley Osborne, who haven’t been seen since that angle.

What are your thoughts on this release? Where would you like to see Duke Hudson appear next?
