The wrestling world was shocked by the horror that unfolded during the tenth-anniversary celebration of The New Day on this week’s episode of WWE RAW.
During the segment, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston confronted Big E, reprimanding their former teammate for prioritizing his new life and girlfriend over their friendship.
Ultimately, Woods and Kingston remained united by turning heel on Big E, who was ousted from the group.
This was after WWE teased for months that Woods would turn heel on Kingston. However, the angle involving Big E on Monday Night RAW wasn’t what was originally planned.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the angle had been in development for months.
Meltzer wrote, “When Odyssey Jones came in, they were going to tease issues with them not getting along but it would end up with Kingston & Woods going heel by choosing Jones and having him publicly replace E. But then Jones got fired and the whole thing was put on hold.”
Odyssey Jones was released by WWE earlier this year following domestic violence accusations that were brought to WWE’s notice.
