As a result of GUNTHER’s attack on the commentary team during last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Pat McAfee cut a promo on the situation on the April 28th edition, putting out a challenge to fight GUNTHER.
RAW General Manager Adam Pearce was missing from this week’s program, but SmackDown’s General Manager Nick Aldis took his place and acted on his behalf, stating that he couldn’t just lift the suspension placed on GUNTHER outright and have them go at it. Instead, he offered a sanctioned match for WWE Backlash 2025 as a means for McAfee to get his hands on The Ring General.
