As WWE begins the new year and prepares for WrestleMania 41, a former star may rejoin the roster.
As we previously reported here on eWn, people within AEW believed Malakai Black was either finishing up with the company or had already done so before it was confirmed that Black is not expected to return to AEW.
AEW President Tony Khan had previously stated that Black was under contract until 2027. Currently, Black is still listed on AEW’s official website.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that, although the belief backstage in AEW suggests that Black has departed, no one is willing to confirm his exit.
The report states, “It’s been reported elsewhere, and one person close to the situation said they were confirming it to us but when we asked officially there was neither a confirmation nor a denial. Nobody expects him back.”
The report also noted that there has been talk in WWE that Black is expected to return when his AEW deal expires.
The report notes, “That’s been the case for a while, but evidently there has been talk in WWE creative about him of late.”
Years ago, when WWE reportedly contacted AEW talents about making a return during Triple H’s takeover of main roster creative, Black was among the names contacted.
