The finish of the Chelsea Green vs. Zelina Vega match on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown didn’t go as planned, Pwinsider reports. Green was counted out while arguing with the audience and announcers.
Multiple sources say the count-out was legitimate — Green seemingly didn’t hear the referee’s count reaching ten and thought it might restart after Vega was tossed back into the ring. As a result, the referee had no choice but to call the match.
There was no injury or issue behind the finish — just a miscommunication during the live broadcast. The match was intended to run a bit longer, and Vega was always meant to win, so the outcome still fit into the ongoing storyline leading into a six-woman tag match next week in Las Vegas, NV.
Finally, it was added that no one backstage was upset, understanding that it was just an unpredictable part of live TV.
