AJ Lee (April Mendez) began her WWE career in 2009 in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) and later NXT before transitioning to the main roster in 2011.
During her tenure on the main roster, Lee achieved considerable success, winning the Divas Championship three times and maintaining a record-setting title reign of 406 days. She left WWE in 2015 and retired due to health issues.
For years, fans have been speculating whether Lee will ever return to WWE.
WrestleVotes is reporting that WWE is willing to welcome Lee back and leaves the decision up to the former Divas Champion.
The report states, “It is a question I get quite a bit. As far as I know, WWE is totally on board for it. They would welcome it. She picks up the phone and she says, ‘I’m in.’ They’re going to say, ‘Yes. What took so long?’ I would say the only two people that probably know that answer are AJ Lee and CM Punk and whatever that answer may be is up to them. So we’ll see.”
Following her departure from WWE, Lee pursued other ventures, including working on comic books and authoring a biography in 2017. She also played a role in the relaunch of the WOW – Women Of Wrestling promotion.
