During a recent appearance on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast, Ricardo Rodriguez revealed that Dolph Ziggler cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase in 2013 was actually supposed to happen at WrestleMania 29. Instead, it happened one night later. Ziggler wound up defeating Alberto Del Rio to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Rodriguez said, “To me, that’s still the top one. That’s incredible. Just because I know originally there was a plan to do it the night of WrestleMania that was originally planned, and then they ended up switching it to the next day. In retrospect, I’m glad they did, just because I think it was a little unexpected. What was great about it too was when they were going over the match they have that false finish where I think Dolph hit the Fameasser, and they go one, two, kick out, whatever. Then Alberto counters it. He does an Enzugiri and then I think he finally hits the arm bar. Then, because the Dolph has been screwed so many times you can just hear everybody bite on it, that was so beautiful. So when he finally hit the Zig Zag, and then the three happened, the eruption of that arena was so incredible, and it was something that I think everybody in unison was very happy for Dolph.“
At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to capture the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
During a recent appearance on the “SI Media Podcast,” Reigns was asked whether he and Rhodes shared a moment after the show to reflect on the match. He said,
“No. There’s no need, but if you want to sit out there and babyface for four hours then I ain’t waiting especially at that point… We know what we did, we were both out there, so you can thank each other and all that old stuff but we put our bodies on the line together and I think that’s thanks enough.”
