During the main event of Sunday’s WrestleMania 41 (Night Two) pay-per-view event, John Cena, with assistance from rapper Travis Scott, dethroned Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to win his record 17th World Title.

During a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, ECW legend Tommy Dreamer doubted Cena’s heel turn could work long-term after fans cheered him at WrestleMania 41 and earlier this week on Monday Night RAW.

Cena turned heel at WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto by aligning himself with The Rock.

While the Last Real Champion was getting booed leading up to WrestleMania 41, things have begun to shift since last weekend.

Dreamer believes that fans will continue to cheer for Cena, regardless of his actions or words. He said,

Does it go to the fact where you feel he’s acting? Or, like we’ve said, you grew up loving John Cena and wanting John Cena to turn heel, and now that he did it you just think it’s cool? I think John really did everything he could … to help you hate him. I don’t get it. But maybe the business is changing. Maybe this is what you want to see. … I have said this for a long, long time, especially in the WWE: where have all the heels gone?”

Cena is set to wrestle his final match in December and has around two dozen dates left on his farewell tour.
