The final moments of the WWE WrestleMania 41 (Night Two) main event between Cody Rhodes and John Cena featured Travis Scott entering the ring and distracting the champion, allowing Cena to kick him in the groin and hit him with the WWE Championship to secure the victory.
On the latest edition of his “My World” podcast, Jeff Jarrett mentioned how Travis Scott’s social media brand is bigger than WWE. He said,
“How many followers on Instagram does Travis Scott have? [15 million more than WWE]. 15 million more. So, in social media world, his brand is bigger than the WWE.”
Then, Jarrett went on to criticize the execution while noting that he loves the general idea of Scott’s involvement. He said,
“With that being said, from my experience, I have been bashed for a lot of things. Pacman Jones affiliation maybe at the top of the list. A few other athletes getting involved, maybe Johnny Fairplay getting involved. There was a time in TNA with Brian Urlacher and we could never get a match out of him there. We’ll call it all kinds of celebrity involvement, if you will.
I’ll say this — not always, but for the most part, I tried to make the celebrity integration seamless, make it make as much wrestling sense and logical — I know that’s a loaded question and there’s a thousand instances, maybe more. I get it, creative is subjective and everything that goes with it.
I don’t think I’m in the minority, but the Travis Scott integration — I don’t care how many followers you have, I can’t think in my wildest dreams that we’re going to have a stadium show, yes WrestleMania, that we’re gonna give Travis Scott — the amount of time it took him to get music and entrance to the ring and the damage and all of the stuff that went with it.
I cannot believe a two night wrestling event, all the wrestling minds involved in the brainchild of WWE, that they all agreed and said, ‘Yes, let’s give Travis Scott 90 seconds to the ring — whatever it is and do this damage.’ It’s still baffling to me, the execution. Now, his involvement? I love.
I think it’s not just brilliant, I think it adds so much to — I know there’s some things that haven’t panned out and we may be going different places and there may be licensing and music and WME and Rock and Cena and they may all have the same agent. I’m talking about the execution for the wrestling fan, not casual, not hardcore, just anybody watching that, that they said, ‘Man, this is going to work, go down there guys and execute that.’”
In other news, Chad Gable is depressed after being left off WrestleMania 41. Despite being with the company for over 12 years, he has never had a singles match at WrestleMania. Rookie El Grande Americano took the match against Rey Mysterio (later replaced by Rey Fenix) at WrestleMania 41, despite him and American Made feuding with the LWO. Gable told Ropebreaks the following:
“I got robbed again, man. This year, by this new guy, comes out of nowhere. Two matches and he’s on WrestleMania. Can you imagine how I feel? Twelve years in. I wish him the best of luck, I like that guy.”
