WWE has officially acquired Lucha Libre AAA, and a new report confirms that several of the promotion’s top stars — including current AAA Mega Champion Alberto El Patron — have signed official contracts with WWE. The acquisition was announced over WrestleMania 41 weekend and marks a significant expansion of WWE’s footprint in the lucha libre market.
According to Ernesto Ocampo of Superluchas, who broke the news late Sunday night, the following AAA talent have now signed official contracts with WWE:
* Alberto El Patron
* Hijo de Dr. Wagner
* Hijo del Vikingo
* La Parka
* La Hiedra
* Lady Flammer
* Lady Maravilla
* Niño Hamburguesa
Ocampo further noted that existing AAA contracts will not carry over to WWE, as WWE uses a different legal framework for its talent agreements. WWE contracts include clauses addressing exclusivity, intellectual property rights, and other stipulations not covered by AAA’s deals.
El Patron’s signing has drawn particular attention due to his controversial history with WWE and legal troubles. He was released from the company in 2014 following an altercation with an employee over an alleged racist remark. After a brief return from 2015 to 2016, he departed again amid reports of dissatisfaction and a wellness policy violation.
Outside the ring, El Patron has faced legal challenges, including a 2020 arrest on sexual assault charges that were later dropped after a key witness failed to appear in court. In 2021, he also made headlines after threatening to release damaging footage of his former fiancée Saraya, then employed by WWE, if she continued to speak publicly about him.
