Two matches have been added to the upcoming WWE Battleground premium live event taking place this Sunday, May 25, 2025.
After Hank Walker and Tank Ledger helped Josh Briggs fight off The Culling (following Briggs losing a match to Shawn Spears in part due to The Culling’s interference), a six-man tag team match with the tag team champions and Briggs against Spears, Niko Vance, and Brooks Jensen has been added to the card.
Also, Kelani Jordan has come back around to earning an NXT Women’s North American Championship title shot against Sol Ruca.
This came about by Jordan beating ZARIA in a match on this week’s episode of NXT, with the stipulation being that she’d get a shot at Sol Ruca’s title if she won. Jordan and ZARIA had this exact same match stipulation in their last bout, which ZARIA won, but WWE simply rinsed and repeated everything and did the opposite result this time.
In regards to the men’s NXT North American Championship, despite how it was alluded to that Ricky Saints would defend his title against the winner of the Triple Threat match between “Super” Sean Legacy, Je’Von Evans, and Ashante “Thee” Adonis, WWE apparently either changed their minds, or had something else planned and just worded things poorly.
Legacy won the match on this episode, but Saints was attacked again by Ethan Page. Ava then decided that Legacy will have to wait (for some reason) and that Saints and Page will have a title match next week on NXT, bypassing Battleground entirely.
Next week’s episode of NXT will no longer take place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, likely due to poor ticket sales. Instead, it will emanate out of its normal stomping grounds at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

- Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo vs Tony D’Angelo
