The WWE Universal Championship is officially a thing of the past as the title has been formally retired by the sports entertainment promotion.
On WWE.com, the title, first introduced in 2016, is now listed as retired.
The title was first won by Finn Balor, who had to relinquish the gold a day later due to suffering an injury at SummerSlam 2016.
The title would be moved from RAW to SmackDown in 2019 and would be unified with the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 in 2022.
The combined title is now known as the Undisputed WWE Championship which is currently held by 17-time World Champion John Cena.
