Zelina Vega won the Women’s U.S. Title on the same show that Aleister Black returned on, with some speculating that the two moments were connected.
Some have even claimed that Black was convinced to return to WWE on the promise that Vega would win her first singles championship.
While speaking to HOT 97, Zelina Vega dismissed the notion that WWE’s work with her husband led to her championship victory. She said,
“It’s like the fact that, mind you, this was not planned, which I laugh a lot when I see a lot of the fans accusing, like, ‘Oh my god, the only reason that she got this title is because her husband was coming back.’
“I’m like, ‘Don’t you think they would have made it the world title?’ But anyways, secondly, just to have this happen the same night, literally only 10 minutes apart from when he came back, was another moment where you’re like, ‘Did this happen?’”
Vega’s victory saw her defeat Chelsea Green, leaving the former champion in a sense of mourning, complete with wearing all-black attires.
