  • The Young Bucks defeated Jurassic Express by pinfall.
  • Lance Archer won the 21-Man Casino Battle Royale
  • Broken Rules Match: Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara ended almost immediately with Hardy taking a bad fall and the match getting called. Then, it was restarted and Hardy won a few minutes later.
  • AEW Women’s World Championship Match: Hikaru Shida (c) defeated Thunder Rosa by pinfall.
  • Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford announced they’re having a live wedding on Dynamite. Before that, they need to have a bachelor party and his best man is going to be revealed this Wednesday. He then shows off his Twitch link and a notice pops up on the screen that All Elite Wrestling endorses it, as a shot to WWE’s recent situation with Twitch and Cameos not being allowed anymore.
  • Eight-Man Tag Team Match: Matt Cardona, The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall) and Scorpio Sky defeated Dark Order (Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) by pinfall.
  • AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: FTR defeated Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega (c) by pinfall to win the titles.
  • Mimosa Mayhem Match: Orange Cassidy defeated Chris Jericho by tossing Jericho into the vat.
  • AEW World Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) defeated MJF by pinfall.

Author’s POV, Running Commentary & Thoughts:

Buy In

  • I’m digging these Casino Battle Royale hype promos. Very old school Royal Rumble vibes.
  • So they’ve added Serpentico vs Joey Janela? That’s random. Not a fan of them pulling a WWE and changing things the day before the event and then DURING the event.
  • Not much to Janela vs Serpentico. Just a match. Curious why Janela and Sonny Kiss aren’t in the battle royale, though. I guess there’s just too many people to fit them in there.
  • John Silver and Alex Reynolds are putting up a tougher fight than what I imagined they would. I thought Private Party would have won by now.
  • There they go.

Tooth and Nail Match

  • Bitch is here! Reba’s shot with the clipboard was awful.
  • Oh God, please don’t tell me they’re adding background music to this like WWE’s been doing with their cinematic matches. That’s so cringy.
  • Ugh. They are. They’re trying to make this a horror show thing.
  • Okay, never mind. No soundtrack. Good.
  • The start of this was really bad. Now that they’re back in the office and just slugging it out, it’s better.
  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaah the needle to the leg. Nope nope nope.
  • Okay, why did Big Swole think it was a good idea to punch through a diploma? That hurts her more than Reba.
  • Swole wins with some anesthesia knocking her out. Hey, at least it’s a way to end it with its gimmick and not just a pinfall. Can’t fault them for that.

The Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express

  • Big fan of Nick Jackson superkicking Luchasaurus to prevent Jungle Boy from tagging out. Good moment.
  • Never been fond of the Marko Stunt act. Am I alone in that?
  • Luchasaurus is athletic as hell. And WWE thought this guy couldn’t be anything when he was in NXT?
  • This is turning out to be exactly how I imagined it would be. It’s just a match. It’s fine if you’re in the mood to just watch people wrestle for no reason, but if you’re looking for substance, it’s just not there.

Casino Battle Royale

  • Will Hobbs is in this? The positive is that it shows the AEW Dark people can make it to the main roster shows. The downside is that they could’ve just given that spot to Janela or someone and cut a match off the card.
  • Santana and Ortiz conveniently got the same time together. Good for them.
  • Matt Sydal is the big surprise….and he slips on the ropes almost immediately. Ouch. What a horrible way to ruin your debut from moment one.
  • I wouldn’t be able to do 99.99% of what any wrestler does, but I’ll tell you, one thing I definitely absolutely would never want to do is something involving tacks. The idea of the tacks inside the body bag took a lot of setup to get the payoff and I don’t think it was worth it.
  • So Darby Allin might be injured. Will Hobbs bounced his head off the ropes and could be injured from that. Kind of a mess.
  • Jake Roberts lightly smacking Eddie Kingston with the bag, where we can’t see what’s in it, comes off more like a one-sided pillow fight than anything intimidating.
  • So I guess with Lance Archer winning, that might be a spoiler that MJF doesn’t take the title tonight. I hope that’s not the case. I’d rather see MJF as champion than for Moxley to continue reigning.

Broken Rules Match

  • Why was there just a cardboard box standing up for Sammy Guevara to run the cart into?? At least treat this logically. It’s an empty area. There’s no reason for that box to be there other than to bump into it. If you have to do that, don’t do it. That was so dumb.
  • Probably not a good idea to jump onto the table on the concrete with the risk of bouncing your head off the floor. That didn’t look good at all.
  • Either this is a legit serious injury, or they’ve done a fantastic job selling the idea that Hardy has a major concussion. He’s even doing things like nearly pulling down Sammy’s trunks, which doesn’t seem like it would have been necessarily planned.
  • This is awkward.
  • Okay…they’re saying there must be a winner and they’re continuing to fight. I guess it’s a work, but if not, they’re being WAY too dangerous having them continue with Matt being messed up.
  • Not too long after that, they go straight to climbing part of the set and Sammy gets knocked off, falling into a padded section. Sammy fails to get up, so the match ends there.
  • I guess that was a means to not have Hardy lose and have to leave AEW, but yikes that was horrendous.

AEW Women’s World Championship Match

  • This match needs to be good. The event has been pretty awful so far.
  • Sadly…I’m not liking this match, either. I thought these two would be working much better together.
  • Why is there smoke on the entrance ramp? Whatever.
  • Having Thunder Rosa sit down on the ramp and literally watch Shida get herself into position to jump on her is why people like myself use words like “too choreographed” to describe a match like this. It breaks the suspension of disbelief.
  • “Great match. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, because these two ladies gave everything they had.” – Well, JR, nope, I didn’t think it was a great match, didn’t enjoy it as much as anyone who thought it was great, and if that was giving it their all, they must not have had much to give. This was fine at its best moments and never reached great at any point.

Eight-Man Tag Team Match

  • Dick Grayson, Jason Todd and Damian Wayne being mentioned on commentary was the first time in this match I snapped back into paying attention. I was honestly getting distracted by anything else for this whole match until that point. And now, I just want to talk about Batman instead of watching the rest of this card. Also, no love for Tim Drake?
  • There goes Anna Jay and Brandi Rhodes getting involved. If we’re going to buy into how there were two more matches added to the show at the last minute this weekend, you mean to tell me you couldn’t have booked Jay vs. Rhodes then? At least that would have had a storyline reason to happen more so than Serpentico vs. Joey Janela or whatever.
  • So Uno tossed QT to Stu, so Stu could toss QT to Uno? What? Here’s another example of how AEW gets lost in the spots and exposes the dance too much.
  • Dark Order loses. That makes perfect sense. Sure. There goes a lot of the heat for them after wiping out Cody and them. This was DEFINITELY better than just booking Cody vs. Brodie Lee for the TNT Championship….
  • And now they’re mad at Colt for losing, but Evil Uno is babyfacing it by supporting Cabana? Why are we sympathizing with the heels here?! Who is rationalizing this??
  • And now Dustin gets a TNT title match on Dynamite. That should have happened HERE.

AEW World Tag Team Match

  • Please don’t suck like the rest of this show.
  • Damn it. I have nothing to say about this match. I’m severely underwhelmed.
  • It’s better than anything else we’ve seen tonight. I’m not sure how much of a compliment that is, but it’s still a positive compared to other things.
  • The mood just isn’t here. This is following too much bad stuff and the lack of a crowd is hurting its energy.
  • Kind of a flat ending.

Mimosa Mayhem Match

  • Is it just me, or does that tank of mimosa look smaller than what you had imagined, too?
  • Not bad. I’m not going crazy over this, but it’s at least solid.
  • Like I said, not much to talk about, but I didn’t dislike this. This was fine. I feel bad that a better match happened and I have nothing to say, but had this happened earlier in the night, maybe I would have more energy to speak on specifics instead of just wanting this show to be over with.

AEW World Championship Match

  • Definitely a lot more biting going on in this match than I anticipated.
  • As soon as Lance Archer won, I figured MJF is going to lose this match. I still think that’s going to happen (and I’m hoping I’m proven wrong). At the very least, though, they’re making MJF look tougher than ever before. That’s good.
  • Uh oh. Wardlow is going to screw MJF, isn’t he?
  • There we go. Wardlow’s distraction allows Moxley to hit the Paradigm Shift while the referee wasn’t looking.
  • Good match. Downside is that they spoiled it with the Casino Battle Royale.
