AEW Dynamite Results (4/9/2025)
#1. Jon Moxley vs. Katsuyori Shibata – Winner: Jon Moxley via technical submission
The Young Bucks joins Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir in the ring. Moxley says something to them, but nobody hears it, and then he leaves. Young Bucks explain why they screwed Swerve Strickland at Dynasty. The first reason is for Hangman Page, who never wanted Strickland as champion, and they still love him to do him that favor. And second, they helped the Death Riders as a peace offering.
After sitting back and watching them for months, they have more in common than they think. They want to change the world just like them. Young Bucks are so impressed with the Death Riders for doing what they couldn’t, and that is take over AEW. Imagine if they teamed up? They ask Jon Moxley to return to the ring to discuss business. Instead, we get Kenny Omega.
He reminds the Young Bucks that the last time they were together, they were pushing him off a stretcher. Omega tells a story about a guy he knew with two little yappy dogs who kept on pooping on the carpet. And over time, this kept building up, and this reminded him of what the Young Bucks were doing when he wasn’t around.
After throwing out some insults, Omega wants to cut out the middle man and fight. As he heads to the ring, Kazuchika Okada enters. However, immediately after, Swerve Strickland’s music plays, and he enters the ring with a steel chair. The Elite sees this and quickly retreats.
Omega leaves to allow Swerve Strickland some time to send a message. As he declares this “Buck Hunting Season”, he is blindsided by Pac.
#2. Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Pac – Winner: Swerve Strickland
Hangman Page bursts in to Swerve Strickland’s room, but only Prince Nana is there. Nana tries to tell him how things have changed, but Page is having none of it.
#3. [Winner Gets $400,000] “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Will Ospreay, Mark Briscoe & Kevin Knight vs. Ricochet, Lio Rush, Action Andretti & The Beast Mortos – Winners: Bailey, Ospreay, Briscoe & Knight
The Hurt Syndicate tries to have a championship celebration, but MJF interrupts it. He gloats about how he helped them to retain the tag team titles. This is a perfect business opportunity. He helps them, and now they get to help him. Bobby Lashley tells him to shut his mouth. It quickly gets heated to where MVP and Shelton have to step in. MVP says if MJF can get three thumbs up from the Hurt Syndicate, he is in. Benjamin gives him a thumbs down, and it is already clear what Lashley thinks. Once again, MJF is rejected.
#4. [Owen Hart Cup] Thunder Rosa vs. Kris Statlander – Winner: Kris Statlander
Don Callis hypes Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita’s chances in the Owen Hart Cup, before sending an invite to the AEW roster to anyone who wants to join the Don Callis Family. Send their résumés and bank details, for Fletcher and Takeshita have proven that this family will take talent straight to the top.
After talking about Adam Cole’s success, his group with Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly is renamed to the “Paragon”.
TV Time with Chris Jericho. He shows respect to Bandido for defeating him for the ROH World Championship and retaining his mask. He asks Big Bill and Bryan Keith to join him in the ring. As Jericho points out their failure to win the tag team titles, Big Bill cuts him off. He understands why Jericho is angry, and Bill admits he has been getting angry a lot lately. Bill joined The Learning Tree to learn from one of the best of all time, but he did not sign up to be a punching bag. If he wants to teach them something, go ahead, but if it is anything less, let them know now so he can leave.
Jericho tells them he didn’t bring them out there to berate them. They are future world champions. Some might say that Bill wasn’t there to help Jericho to retain his ROH title. However, he isn’t saying that. He isn’t angry… he’s just disappointed. Jericho repeatedly smashes the TV screen with his baseball bat before telling his proteges that they need to change something, and he won’t return until they do.
#5. Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli (Death Riders) vs. Samoa Joe & Hook (The Opps) – Winners: The Opps
The Death Riders attack after the bell. Castagnoli drills Hook in to a chair placed upside down so he lands on the legs. Shibata and Joe scare off the Death Riders to save Hook from anymore punishment. Samoa Joe grabs a microphone and throws out a challenge for the Trios Championship.
