AEW Dynamite Results (5/21/2025)

We open with a one-on-one in the ring with Will Ospreay and Hangman Page. After asking the security detail to leave, Ospreay asks Page if he still drinks. Not in a bad way, he’s just wondering if he would like to share one. He gives Page a beer, but he doesn’t drink it, which Will understands.

Will would like to petition to have their match be the main event at the PPV, because of what is at stake. He has done everything the right way since he started, and all he wants is to bring the title home with pride. Will would love to be able to show his countrymen how far he has come when London hosts Forbidden Door. But nothing would be sweeter than to take the title home to his kid.

Hangman Page says there is nothing more important than being the AEW World Champion. This will be the biggest professional accomplishment that either of them could have, but this is personal for him. Page doesn’t want it, he needs it. He has wasted two years of his life that has been filled with anger and hate.

The worst of it were the times when he was home, when his son sat on the floor playing with his new toys, to look up at his father staring out of the window. He needs his wife to not look at him with pity. Page needs to know there is some light at the end of this tunnel, and he needs to know that Ospreay was wrong when he said it was too little, too late.

Ospreay asks what he’s going to do about. Is he going to wrap a chair over his head? Or retire him like his mentor Christopher Daniels? Sometimes his best isn’t good enough, and if he has lost, he has put everything of him else in that ring. More importantly, he won the fans’ trust and respect.

Ospreay doesn’t know how to beat Jon Moxley, but Page does, so if he can beat him, he knows he can go on to defeat Moxley. He has beaten so many big names because he is the best in the world. If Page needs a friend, and someone to watch his back, Ospreay has his back. And he hopes Page would do the same for him if he wins. They both drink to that ahead of their match on Sunday.

#1. Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Jon Moxley & The Young Bucks – Winners: Strickland, Joe & Hobbs

It all breaks down with run-ins by the Death Riders, Katsuyori Shibata, Marina Shafir, Willow Nightingale, and Kenny Omega. Matt Jackson eats a V-Trigger and is almost put through a table, but is saved by the Death Riders.

Next up, we have the official contract signing for MJF in to the Hurt Syndicate. This takes a while as Bobby Lashley stalls signing his part of the contract. The Sons Of Texas immediately interrupted them. MJF yells at them, so Dustin Rhodes tells him to shut up. He admits to hating MJF’s guts. He has a lot of respect for MVP, but he needs to watch out for this snake in the grass.

Dustin Rhodes says they are day one guys who have been here working hard with their soul, heart and work ethic. If he was a betting man, he would bet on the day one guys.

#2. Anthony Bowens (w/ Billy Gunn) vs. Ricochet – Winner: Ricochet

Mark Briscoe comes out with a stretcher and runs it in to his gut. Ricochet is loaded on to the stretcher. Briscoe looks to fly through the sky on to him, but Ricochet escapes in time.

It is now time for the one-to-one between Mercedes Mone and Jamie Hayter. Renee Paquette conducts the meeting with them. Jamie Hayter is fine with being the underdog. It doesn’t matter if she’s on top of the mountain, or at the bottom, she will fight again and again and again. She’s not an obnoxious CEO, and doesn’t walk around here acting like she’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Jamie is a fighter and every single person watching tonight has molded her in to that. This means more to her than it does to Mone. This isn’t about a title shot anymore, it is about not being forgotten. When that bell rings, if she isn’t winning it, was there any reason for her to come back? As always, her back is against the wall, but she stands up and fights bloody hard, as that’s who Jamie Hayter is.

Renee asks Mercedes if she is worried that Jamie could be the first to beat her in singles competition in AEW. Mone isn’t worried at all. She is more than just a champion. She is a revolution and the Beyonce of women’s wrestling. Mercedes isn’t looking past her, she is looking through her. The reality is she is going to All In: Texas to become the Women’s Champion. She is already the greatest TBS Champion of all time. Mercedes is undefeated because of hard work and dedication.

This isn’t just about winning for her, it is about making her legacy. Mone wants Hayter to bring the fight, because at Double Or Nothing, this is where her story ends. Hayter brings up the fact she recently lost a title, and that spells her destiny to lose everything. Mercedes hates hearing that and throws herself at Hayter. In the end, Jamie takes Mercedes out with a strong lariat. “Timeless” Toni Storm enters ahead of the next match.

#3. Mina Shirakawa vs. Julia Hart – Winner: Mina Shirakawa

Julia Hart attacks Mina Shirakawa after the bell, but Mina fights back and applies the Figure Four Leg Lock. Skye Blue arrives to save her friend, but then Toni Storm gets involved, and the two women wrestling for the title stand tall. Shirakawa picks up the title and tries to hold it above her head, but Toni grabs it. Mina takes her down with a Dragon Screw and follows up by applying the Figure Four around the ring post for major damage.

As The Young Bucks are about to leave, Matt Jackson laughs off that Samoa Joe promised he would get them before the night was over. Right on cue, Joe and Hobbs appear with trash can lids. The Death Riders appear not long after, and we get an extended preview of the “Anarchy In The Arena” match at Double Or Nothing. This ends with The Young Bucks hitting a double splash on Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland through tables.
