GFW Results – 9/21/17


Welcome to the GFW Impact results page. No spoilers and no politics.

The show opens with Johnny Impact looking for Eli Drake in the back. He comes to the ring and call Drake out. KM comes out and says Drake is in Mexico. Johnny says he saw his car outside. KM challenges him for his number one contender’s spot.

Johnny Impact def KM after he hits his 5…4…3…2…1…Impact finisher. There was little action in the match. KM rolled up Impact and put his feet on the ropes but the ref caught him. This allowed Impact to deliver a variation of the disaster kick and hit he Impact elbow for the three count.

Taya Valkyre def Ava Storie with the face buster in a complete squash. After the match, she cuts a promo saying she wants a KO title match. Rosemary comes out and has different plans. They brawl and Sienna comes out and she and Taya double team Rosemary before they start jawing at each other. Allie comes down to even the odds and then Taryn Terrell comes out and it’s 3 on 2. The heel women have the advantage until Gail Kim comes out and the she, Allie, and Rosemary are able to clean house and stand tall in the ring.

A segment is shown where O.V.E. refuses to leave Mexico until LAX gives them a fair tag team title shot.

Backstage, Gail, Allie, and Rosemary talk about being united against the three heel women. Rosemary talks about gruesome violence. Gail cheers along. Rosemary grabs her and squeezes her and says, We Like You Gail. This made Gail uncomfortable and she pulled away but the three walked off together.

LAX agrees to a Tag Team Title match with O.V.E. at Victory Road next week.

Fantasma and Pagano Jr def EC3 and Eddie Edwards. Fantasma and Pagano controlled a good portion of the match, mostly on EC3. He finally fought off the two AAA guys and made the hot tag to Eddie Edwards. Edwards took the fight to Fantasma. Pagano interfered again and EC3 clotheslined him out of the ring. He gets pulled out just as as Eddie hits the Blue Thunderbomb on Fantasma. A third guy from the AAA promotion comes in and delivers a nasty powerbomb to Edwards which allows Fantasma to get the pin.

After the match, they triple teamed Edwards and whipped him with the rope. EC3 gets in the ring but the numbers game was too much and they beat him down and whipped him as well. James Storm comes out to the ring and he clears the ring of the three AAA guys. He stares a hole into EC3 and shakes hands with Eddie before leaving.

Backstage, Impact is looking for Eli. He shows up against the three AAA guys. They tell him Eli is still in Mexico. The new guy with the rope got in Impact’s face and told him he doesn’t like him. Impact says he’ll put his #1 contendership on the line in a match with him tonight.

Kongo Kong def Mahabali Shera with the big splash off the top ropes. It was a physical match. Shera took the fight to him. He even connected with a springboard clothesline. The end came after Kong nailed a vicious headbutt that turned the tables. Shera fell into the corner and Kong hit the running somersault splash in the corner followed by the flying splash for the three count.

Johnny Impact def Texano to retain his #1 Contendership. It’s the second time Impact had a match tonight. Texano controlled things in the beginning but Impact battled back. He hit a trio of inverted swinging neckbreakers. Texano controls things outside the ring when we return from commercial. He applies a reverse figure four leg lock. Texano climbs the ropes but Impact kicks him down with a superkick. He hits a springboard moonsault on the outside.

Back in the ring, the two exchange punches while on their knees in the middle of the ring. Impact gets the advantage with a running forearm. He hits a dropkick that sends Texano out of the ring. Texano pulls him off the apron. They battle back in the ring. Great back and forth action. Impact sends Texano into the corner and hits a superkick to the back. He slides under him to the outside and pulls him down in some modified short German suplex. He hits Starship Pain for the three count.

Eli Drake def A Young AAA wrestler to retain the GFW Title. It was fun to see the match take place in Mexico in front of a nice crowd. It wasn’t much of a competitive match. Eli Drake caught the young star off one of his springboards and hit the Gravy Train for the three count.
