Kenny Omega made his triumphant return to New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17 earlier today. The Cleaner defeated Will Ospreay to become the new IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion at the Tokyo Dome show.
The finish saw Omega hit the Kamigoye in tribute to Kota Ibushi. He followed that with a One Winged Angel for the win.
This marked Omega’s first bout in NJPW since Wrestle Kingdom 13, when he lost the now defunct IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi. This was also his first singles match since Full Gear 2021.
It remains to be seen who will step up to Kenny Omega following his title win.
