New Japan Cup 2014 – 3/15 Results


New Japan Pro Wrestling kicked of the New Japan Cup 2014 earlier today at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan with 2,015 spectators in attendance.

*Special 6 Man Tag Team Match: El Desperado, Kota Ibushi & Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Jado, Gedo & Kazuchika Okada (11:38). Desperado hit the Guiterra De Angel on Gedo for the win.


New Japan Cup: First Round Matches:

Shelton X Benjamin defeated Yujiro Takahashi (6:21) following a Paydirt from Benjamin.

Minoru Suzuki defeated Toru Yano (8:01) with a European Clutch.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated Karl Anderson (9:14) with an Octopus Hold.

Hirooki Goto defeated Doc Gallows (6:55) with the Goto-Shiki.

Prince Devitt defeated Lance Archer (7:57) following a Bloody Sunday to Archer.

Bad Luck Fale defeated Togi Makabe (9:36) with the Bad Luck Fall.

Tetsuya Naito defeated Tomohiro Ishii (12:55) following the Stardust Press.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Davey Boy Smith Jr. (14:59) following the Boma-Ye.

All the winners advance to the quarterfinals. The second round of the New Japan Cup will be held on 3/22 at the Nagoya International Conference Hall in Aichi, Japan.

The following second round matches for the card will be:

– Minoru Suzuki vs Hirooki Goto

– Prince Devitt vs Shinsuke Nakamura
