- Promo: Oba Femi started the show talking about how he is now the reigning NXT champion, putting over Trick Williams, and saying he always knew he could reach the mountain top. He has no ceiling. Tony D’Angelo came out to say he’s 2-1 over Femi, so whenever he decides, he’s going to take the NXT Championship from him. Ridge Holland then came out, prompting a brawl, which was distracting enough for Femi to get jumped from behind by Eddy Thorpe.
- Backstage, Ethan Page was hyping himself up to Dante Chen about his interaction with The Rock last week, saying he could smell the jealousy in the locker room. Chen stood up to him to say no one is envious of him. Instead, people are pissed at what he did to Je’Von Evans, setting up a match for later.
- No. 1 Contender’s Match: Shotzi Blackheart defeated Stephanie Vaquer by pinfall with a roll-up. Jacy Jayne got involved and both took her out, but while the official was distracted getting her out of the ring, Fallon Henley hit Vaquer in the back with the NXT Women’s North American Championship title belt. Shotzi capitalized, but didn’t realize what had happened until after the pinfall during the replay, and wasn’t happy with that being how she won.
- Backstage, several women were talking. Zaria told Kelani Jordan to use her losses as motivation. Cora Jade came over to talk some trash, saying she has no doubt she’s going to win a title before Jordan will win another, and Jordan is “the same girl from Michigan State”, which upset her enough that Jordan slapped her.
- Footage was shown in picture-in-picture of Vaquer angrily storming backstage to find Tatum Paxley in a makeup chair. Vaquer threatened her in some way (inaudible on CW…fun..) and continued to walk through the halls, talking to other people (again, inaudibly)
- Oba Femi stormed into Ava’s office to say if Eddy Thorpe wants a title shot, give it to him. Ava doesn’t want to reward bad behavior. Mr. Stone said Femi is being played by a fool. Femi picked Stone up and said “I’m the NXT champion. If I want Eddy, I get Eddy.” Ava decided to go along with it and the match has been booked for next week.
- Ethan Page defeated Dante Chen by pinfall. After the match, Page took off Chen’s boot and placed Chen’s leg between the ring post and the steel steps, kicking the steps to injure Chen. As officials were checking on Chen, Je’Von Evans ran out and attacked Page, but was quickly taken down with a shot to his injured jaw. Evans continued to bleed from the mouth as Page yelled for him to “smile now.”
- Backstage, Dion Lennox congratulated Oba Femi won winning the title, saying one day, he’s going to challenge him for the title. The camera panned over to Shawn Spears talking to Adriana Rizzo about how she understands the value of family, but that Tony D’Angelo doesn’t really care about her. Rizzo didn’t want to talk to Spears anymore, and they were interrupted by Izzi Dame, who said Spears is really starting to piss her off. She doesn’t need Spears, and neither does Rizzo. Spears said “I don’t know about that” and walked off. Rizzo told Dame she had that handled. Dame said “Mhm. Sure. Tell The Don that we’re even.” The camera then panned to Karmen Petrovic was also talking to Ashante “Thee” Adonis about getting his text. Adonis said he doesn’t want to play around anymore, new year, new start, handed her a rose and wants to be official. Petrovic said “Officially, about damn time” and pulled him in for a kiss.
- Video Package: A special look at the new NXT Women’s Champion Giulia
- Backstage, Sarah Schreiber was talking to Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. #DIY is there to get a close up look at Fraxiom, since they know that some day, they’re going to fight them, after hearing about how they’re the greatest tag team in NXT history. But they promised that they aren’t going to cause any shenanigans.
- No. 1 Contenders’ Match: Meta Girls (Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) defeated The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn) by pinfall.
- Lexis King got his name plate added to the NXT Heritage Cup backstage as Ava oversaw. Charlie Dempsey came over with Wren Sinclair to “congratulate” him for winning. Sinclair was upset that King low-blowed Dempsey, but Dempsey wasn’t upset and King said it was an accident. Sinclair pitched for a rematch. Ava agreed, and they were interrupted with a loud clang, which turned out to be Ridge Holland brawling with Tony D’Angelo in the alley outside.
- Cora Jade defeated Kelani Jordan by pinfall with a cheap win after raking Jordan’s face when the referee was distracted. TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich was ringside watching the match.
- An Instagram video from Eddy Thorpe was shown of him saying this was a good night of work as he set the bait and Oba Femi took it, just like he knew he would. It’s so easy and predictable. Shout out to Ava for making the title match happen, as that almost makes up for her calling him a liar last week. But that’s behind him and soon enough, all will be well when he’s crowned the new NXT champion. Oba Femi calls himself the ruler of NXT, but next week, he’s going to be overthrown. In the meantime, Thorpe is going to celebrate. “You have no idea how good I feel right now. It’s a beautiful day.”
- Backstage, Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura approached Nathan Frazer and Axiom, saying that they approached them all wrong when they saved them, as it didn’t get their attention. “We got next. Do you understand?” OTM interrupted to say after tonight, Fraxiom won’t be champions, so they’re talking to the wrong people, and if Briggs and Inamura step up to them, they’ll drag them through the mud. Inamura misinterpreted, thinking OTM mud wrestles. They asked if he’s a comedian and this sparked a brawl.
- NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Axiom and Nathan Frazer (c) defeated OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) by pinfall to retain.
- Promo: Roxanne Perez said that the state of the women’s division is going to decline now that she’s no longer champion. Without her, the division will be lost. NXT and the crowd don’t deserve her. Past generations needed the Four Horsewomen, but this generation only needs one. She was then interrupted by Bayley (to a crowd that went ballistic). Bayley said Roxanne is at a crossroads. She can either act like she is now or grow from it. Roxanne said she didn’t ask for Bayley’s advice, which Bayley pointed out is wrong since she’s always been asking for her advice. The division is going to be fine as there are Kelani Jordan, Jaida Parker, even Cora Jade is going to be okay without her. Perez says Bayley is just like Natalya and CM Punk trying to tell her the same things they did and that she’s just like everyone else she used to look up to. NXT doesn’t owe Bayley anything. Bayley set records, but Perez broke them. Bayley was Roxanne’s role model, but she thinks she could be Bayley’s now. Bayley said the difference between them is that Roxanne will be stuck here in NXT while Bayley will be going on to WrestleMania after she wins the Royal Rumble and she’ll win the title from Tiffany Stratton. Perez went on the attack and the episode was promptly cut off for time constraints. [Author’s POV: This was a mess and either poorly written, poorly executed, or both.]
