We bring you coverage for the episode of WWE SmackDown airing on May 9, 2025. Missed RAW? You can find the results here.

#1. LA Knight & Damian Priest vs. Jacob Fatu & Solo Sikoa – Winners: LA Knight & Damian Priest

As they had a disagreement during the match, the babyfaces fight after the win, which gives Jacob Fatu the opportunity to take them out. As he celebrates with the US title, Drew McIntyre blindsides him with a Claymore! He takes the title and holds it high.

Backstage, R-Truth shows his support for John Cena with a “Let’s Go Cena” sign. Jimmy Uso tells him Cena sucks now, but Truth isn’t having any of that.

Drew McIntyre is asked why he took out Jacob Fatu. Well, first he sounds off about Damian Priest and him not deserving to be in the four way at Backlash. As for Fatu, he talks about being all “gas and no brakes”, but that means he will eventually hit a wall, and that wall is your next US Champion.

Aleister Black speaks in a recorded segment. He buried the guy who spoke in riddles. While doing so, he found the truth, and that was to return to this company to dish out consequences. He is here to confront everyone mentally and physically, and he has yet to figure out Carmelo Hayes.

#2. Zelina Vega & Alexa Bliss vs. Piper Niven & Chelsea Green (w/ Alba Fyre) – Winners: Vega & Bliss

Backstage, Santos Escobar tries having a word with Fenix. He isn’t interested, so Escobar and the rest of Legado Del Fantasma beat him up.

Charlotte Flair makes her way to the ring to talk. She gives credit to herself for being out for nearly 2 years with an injury, only to return and take the champion to the limit at WrestleMania. Flair enjoyed her WrestleMania moment so much that she is here to declare her path back to the title.

The fans boo her, so Charlotte becomes upset about the disrespect to the point she threatens to leave. They keep on disrespecting, so Charlotte drops the microphone and leaves. As she’s doing so, Jade Cargill makes her entrance. There’s a brief stare between the two. When Cargill gets to the ring, she gets a microphone to tell Charlotte that she had her chance, and now it is time she goes to the back of the line.

Charlotte Flair is leaving, which Nick Aldis says is unprofessional. As she’s about to get in the car, the door is slammed shut by Alexa Bliss. She wants to talk.

#3. [WWE Women’s Championship #1 Contender] Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax – Winner: Nia Jax after an assist from Naomi

Street Profits talk in the ring. People have been talking because they put on the greatest TLC match of all time. They even used a prosthetic leg. No matter what happens, they will always walk out on top. Fraxiom interrupts this to admire the best tag team in the game right now. Shawn Michaels gave them one direct command when they left NXT, to seize any and every opportunity. Angelo Dawkins is puzzled. They have only won two matches, so what makes them think they deserve a title shot? Montez Ford wonders what the fans want to see. Nick Aldis appears to give Fraxiom an opportunity to prove themselves by facing the Street Profits right now.

#4. Street Profits vs. Fraxiom – Winners: Fraxiom

#5. Aleister Black vs. Carmelo Hayes (w/ The Miz) – Winner: Aleister Black

Motor City Machine Guns congratulates Fraxiom on the win. DIY appears from nowhere to take out Fraxiom while telling them that all they did was take advantage of two hurt guys who went through TLC. What does that make them? Lowlives.

#6. Andrade & Rey Fenix vs. Los Garza (w/ Santos Escobar) – Winners: Andrade & Fenix

Tensions boil over to where Berto leaves after being chastised for Santos Escobar for losing.

John Cena arrives. Once again, he gets the announcer to give him a proper introduction. He has a bottle thrown at him midway, so he stops the announcer, picks it up, shakes his head, and throws it out. Only then does the introduction reach its conclusion. John Cena says tomorrow your childhood dies. The reason they are reduced to throwing empty bottles of beer is because they know how important Backlash is. They will do everything they can, just like Randy Orton, which is why he is not here tonight.

Don’t boo him… he is smart. Randy is home with his family, preparing for the biggest moment of his career. The first time he wrestled Randy was almost 25 years ago. Since then, they have defined “Ruthless Aggression”, and whether you are young or old, you choose Randy Orton, or you choose John Cena. Tomorrow is their last match. They only get to choose one more time. And if you are still a child, their childhood will die as well. The winners write history, and Randy Orton is a liar. The person he has lied to the most over the years is himself.

Hustle, loyalty, respect. Randy only has his job because of his family, and he has never taken responsibility for his actions. He is the “greatest of all time” at wasting his potential. Cena is the greatest because he is “hustle”. Randy Orton thinks that working a job for many days at a time is loyalty. He’s a lifer and a piece of furniture… he’s right, he’s a La-Z-Boy. Randy claims to be the one the fans can count on to beat him for the title, but you can’t count on him for anything. He is the greatest of all time for doing the bare minimum.

Respect of which they show him none. If Orton wants to beg for respect, he has to remind everyone he is a third generation superstar. No one knows his grandfather, and his father’s biggest accomplishment was knocking off his mother. As far as legend killer goes, he only ever beat guys who had nothing left to give. Tomorrow, the only legend he kills is his own. He will be just like his 2006 self, where he fails at everything.

John Cena is respect. Take a good look at this title. This is what a real last champion looks like. Some guy in a hood attacks him, so this random gets an Attitude Adjustment. Oh, but look, here comes the real Randy Orton to hit the RKO on Cena! He picks up the title and kisses it. Orton is ready for Backlash.
