WWE SmackDown Results For December 20th, 2016: Corbin vs. Ziggler, Styles vs. Ellsworth

Welcome to SmackDown Live. We kick things off with a WWE Championship match.


WWE Championship Match: AJ Styles © vs. James Ellsworth.

Ellsworth went for a super kick early but Styles blocked and hit a series of strikes for the win. That was quick.

Winner: Styles.


Post-match, Styles tossed him around and sent him into the announce table and the frame of the ring. Styles suplexed him into the barricade. Styles got the microphone and said that his actions have been building up for six weeks. Styles told Ellsworth to go back to the misfit of toys where he belongs. Styles said that it’s time for him to move onto 2017. He said he has everything and that includes the WWE Title. He said that it looks like he has a happy new year in his future. This led to Dolph Ziggler walking down to the ring and said that he is next in line for the WWE Title. Styles said that it would be a cakewalk for him to face Ziggler because Ziggler is a loser. Ziggler pointed out that it took four tries to beat Ellsworth. Styles challenge Ziggler to a match next week. Ziggler said that he put his career on the line for the IC Title and came out on top so what does he think he would do to get the WWE Title. This led to Baron Corbin walking out as Ellsworth was put on a stretcher and sent to the back. Styles left the ring. Corbin said that he should be facing Styles for the title not Ziggler because Ziggler has had a lot of title shots. Ziggler said that Corbin doesn’t get title matches but rather earn them. Ziggler said he earned his title shot. Corbin said that the only reason Ziggler is the #1 Contender because he wasn’t at SmackDown. Corbin punched him then Ziggler fought back. Corbin hit End of Days to Ziggler as Styles watched on.


-Commercial Break-

It was announced that Ziggler will face Corbin tonight.

Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz © vs. Apollo Crews.

Crews rolled him up to begin the match. Crews caught him a drop kick then locked in a headlock. Crews sent him to the floor and hit a baseball slide. Crews connected with a moonsault off the apron then sent him into the ring. Crews went to the top rope and hit a crossbody for 2.

-Commercial Break-


We’re back with Crews hitting a side slam for 2. Miz landed a back elbow and Maryse was about to attack Crews but the referee saw it and sent her to the back. Miz rolled him up for 2. Crews hit a power slam for 2. Miz blocked a move and hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

Winner: The Miz.

Post-match, Renee Young interviewed The Miz. Miz said that he doesn’t have an obsession with Dean Ambrose and that she is the one sleeping with him. Young slapped Miz and walked out of the ring.


-Commercial Break-

Natalya is in the ring and called out Nikki Bella. Carmella walked out right after her. Carmella said that Natalya is a liar and if Bella believes her then maybe some of that silicone has leaked up to her brain. Carmella said that Natalya has been talking bad about Bella. Natalya said that she told her that in private and that she is a snitch. Natalya said that Carmella caused all of this and then attached Carmella. She tossed her into some trees then ran to the back. Natalya said that she did it and called Bella a bitch. Natalya said that she has always disliked Bella while she is wrestling royalty. Natalya said that The Bella Twins got everything because they are beautiful. She said that Bella is a nothing and that’s why John Cena will never marry her.

-Commercial Break-


Daniel Bryan told Alexa Bliss that she would defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch next week. Bryan said that she would have to compete tonight. Bliss tried to get out of it by saying that she was injured but Bryan said that he would have to strip her of the championship if she didn’t compete.

Singles Match: Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper.

Ambrose hit a drop kick to begin the match. Harper cut him off by sending him throat first into the ropes.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back from break with Harper in control. Moments later, Ambrose fought back and hit a clothesline. Ambrose with a clothesline in the corner but Harper reversed and sent him into the corner then hit a super kick. Ambrose fought back and took out Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton with a dive off the top rope. Harper hit a powerbomb to Ambrose for 2. Ambrose rolled him up for the win.

Winner: Ambrose.

Post-match, Harper, Wyatt and Orton beat down Ambrose. The Wyatt Family left the ring and The Miz walked down to the ring. Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale to end the segment.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Alexa Bliss vs. Ms. Luchadora

Luchadora worked over her left arm then rolled her up for 2. Bliss cut her off and landed a series of strikes. Luchadora fought back and locked in the Disarmer for the win. It was revealed that it was Becky Lynch.

We see Ryan Phillippe walking around and trying to find Randy Orton. He runs into Heath Slater and Mojo Rawley. They took shots at each other and this set up a match for later in the show.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Mojo Rawley vs. Curt Hawkins

Quick match. Rawley won with a big punch.

Winner: Rawley.

Rawley celebrated with Phillippe after the match.

-Commercial Break-

We see Ellsworth coming out of the training room with an arm cast, shoulder tape and head wrap. He didn’t answer a single question just whined in pain. Carmella walked up and said that she would take care of him.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler – the winner of this match will face Styles next week.

They start brawling to begin the match. Corbin sent him to the floor into the apron and then back into the ring where he would cover him for 2. Ziggler fought back with a series of strikes. Corbin cut him off with a series of clothesline and we cut to break.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Ziggler hitting the famouser for a near fall. Corbin cut him off and landed a big clothesline than a right hand. Ziggler with a kick to the gut then hit the Zig Zag for 2. Ziggler put him on the top rope but Corbin knocked him down with a series of elbows. Corbin hit Deep 6 for 2. Corbin sent him into the barricade and then into Styles. Ziggler caught Corbin with a super kick and they were both counted out. Styles hit them both with a steel chair. Bryan walks out and books a triple threat match featuring Ziggler, Corbin and Styles for next week.
