WWE SmackDown Live Results – October 17th, 2017: Jinder Mahal’s Big Announcement, Dolph Ziggler vs. Bobby Roode

Welcome to SmackDown Live. The intro video played and Daniel Bryan walked out to the ring to open the show. He said that they’re going to have a great show that will feature a six-woman tag team match as well as a special announcement from Jinder Mahal and Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler. He said that Sami Zayn’s actions at Hell in a Cell was disappointing. This led to Zayn walking out. Bryan questioned who Zayn is right now. Zayn said that he is still a great guy but just took ownership of his career back. Zayn said that the fans didn’t hold up to their unspoken agreement with him. He said that the fans never backed him like they did for Bryan. Thus, he had to make a change. Zayn doesn’t care about the fans or what they care anymore. Zayn told Bryan to lose his mortar complex. He brought up Bryan retiring in this arena. Zayn said that Bryan is a one in a lifetime performer and that he tried to catch up to Bryan. Zayn said that Bryan is the last person he would ever want to be like. He called Bryan a housewife. This led to Kevin Owens walking out to the ring. Bryan said that he does what’s best for the fans not Owens. Owens fired back by saying that Bryan does what’s best for business. He said that Bryan is now The Authority. Zayn called Bryan a sellout. Sami thanks Owens for helping to open his eyes. Owens saved Sami from the same fate as Bryan.

Bryan shakes his head and turns to leave. As he walks away, Owens asks where he’s going? Bryan turns and says he’s going to find a couple dudes to punch them in the face.

-Commercial Break-

Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Charlotte Flair, Naomi & Becky Lynch vs. Lana, Tamina & Natalya

Naomi and Natalya started things off. Natalya blocked a bulldog but Naomi caught her with a heel kick for 2. Naomi with a big slap and Natalya rolled out to the ring to regroup. Naomi hit a crossbody to take out Natalya and Tamina. Back in the ring, Natalya put the boots to Naomi and locked in a headlock. Naomi got out of it with an arm drag and tagged in Lynch, who hit a spinning kick followed up with a leg drop for 2. Natalya got out of the ring again and we cut to break.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Lana in control of Naomi. Lana got a cheap shot in on Flair and Lana landed a series of kicks to Naomi in the corner. Naomi rolled up Lana for 2 then got the tag to Flair, who cleared house with a series of chops to Lana. Flair with a knee drop to Lana and a powerslam. Lana caught her with a big boot but Flair answered with one of her own. Flair went for the Figure Four but Natalya sent her face first into the corner. Things broke down in the ring with the rest of the Superstars. Lana rolled up Flair for 2. Flair locked in the Figure Eight for the win.

Winners: Flair, Lynch & Naomi.

Post-match, Natalya attacked Flair and grabbed a chair but Flair hit her with a big boot. Natalya retreated through the crowd.

We see Bryan informing Owens and Zayn backstage that they will be facing Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura tonight.

A new edition of the Fashion Files was shown.

Baron Corbin and Sin Cara was in the ring. Before the match started, Corbin stated that the United States Title Open Challenge is now closed.

Singles Match: Baron Corbin vs. Sin Cara

Cara landed a series of right hands and then a drop kick. Cara kicked Corbin off the apron and hit an outside dive. Cara went to the top rope and hit an outside dive. Corbin was counted out.

Winner: Cara.

Tag Champs The Usos and Benjamin & Gable beef with each other backstage and B & G tells The Usos they’re going to take their titles when they finally square off.

-Commercial Break-

A video aired of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan hyping their returns.

Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers walked out to the ring to open the second hour. Mahal cut a promo in the ring about his recent trip to India and a fan asked him about what’s next for him. Mahal said that he has beaten everyone on SmackDown. He issued a challenge to Brock Lesnar for a match at Survivor Series. This led to AJ Styles walking out to the ring. Styles said that he doesn’t care about Mahal’s challenge to Lesnar but rather him thinking that he has beaten everyone on SmackDown Live. Styles brought up the fact that Mahal hasn’t beaten him yet. Mahal said that Styles is a loser and he is a winner. Styles said that if he’s a loser then Mahal wouldn’t have a problem with defending the WWE Title against him. Styles said that we are in the U.S. Mahal told Styles that he’s in the back of the line. Mahal said that Styles is out of his mind and a joke of a challenge. Styles attacked Mahal and The Singh Brothers. Styles stood tall in the ring as Mahal retreated.

-Commercial Break-

Mahal stormed into Bryan’s office and wanted some payback. Mahal said that Sunil Singh will face Styles in a match next week. Bryan agreed and granted the match.

Singles Match: Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler

They started brawling in and out of the ring. Ziggler caught him with a drop kick.

We’re back with Roode launching Ziggler into the turnbuckle. Roode with a series of clotheslines then a powerslam for 2. Ziggler rolled him up for 2. Roode went for his finisher but Ziggler blocked and Roode rolled him up for 2. Ziggler then rolled him up for the win.

Winner: Ziggler

-Commercial Break-

Tag Team Match: Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

Bell sounds and Sami stands across from Nakamura. They lock up and start to work through some elementary wrestling holds and reversals. Irish whip and Sami springboards backward over Nakamura and then hits an arm-drag as Nakamura charges in. Sami puts on an arm-lock but Nakamura stands up and gets out of it. Nakamura does his “Come on!” taunt and levels Sami with a kick as he runs in. Nakamura tags Orton and Sami tags Owens. Owens talks trash at Orton before moving in for a fight hand. Orton blocks and cracks Owens with one of his own.
