Here are the results for the episode of WWE SmackDown airing on December 2, 2022. If you missed the previous episode of Monday Night Raw on November 28th, results can be found here.

SmackDown opens tonight with its usual pyro and we are live from Buffalo, NY! Sami Zayn’s music hits and he comes down to the ring for his advertised match against Sheamus. We get a video recap of the WarGames match and Sami coming through for the Bloodline. Before the match starts, the Bloodline and Sami have microphones. Jimmy Uso says tonight is about Sami, who is the MVP. “Sami Uso” chants throughout the arena. Jey admits he doubted Sami and didn’t like him, but he’s earned his respect by standing with the family. Jey says it’s because of Sami, they won their WarGames match.

Jimmy asks Sami how he’s feeling – crowd chants “Ucey!” Sami says he’s feeling pretty freakin’ ucey! He does his synchronized handslaps with both Jimmy and Jey. Sheamus’ music hits and he comes out with a mic. He’s joined by Butch and Ridge Holland. Sheamus announces “it’s fight night!” and we’re getting our first match of the evening.

1. Sami Zayn (w/Solo Sikoa and The Usos) vs. Sheamus

A long match that stretched over two commercial breaks. Sheamus was in control for a lot of the match. Jimmy Uso kicked Sheamus behind the ref’s back, so a brawl broke out at ringside between the Brutes and Bloodline. Sami wins with the help of Jey Uso, who superkicked Sheamus.

Cole and Barrett hype up tonight’s World Cup Final main event between Ricochet and Santos Escobar. This introduces a pre-taped video package for Escobar, who appears with Legado del Fantasma to talk about what it would mean to take home the World Cup and earn an IC title shot against Gunther.

We’re back from break with Kofi Kingston getting interviewed. Kofi announces that he’s going to be in the Royal Rumble. Kofi says he can’t bet against Ricochet in tonight’s final before he gets interrupted by Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser of Imperium. They say Kofi spends more time online than he does in the ring, so Kofi says if they want a match tonight, they’ve got it. He doesn’t have a tag partner tonight, but he’s willing to go one on one with any member of Imperium. Gunther enters the picture and says “that’s perfect,” because tonight, Kofi is going to fight him.

Bray is backstage, speaking about how animals trying to survive isn’t viewed as an act of violence, it’s just survival. Bray says we don’t talk about those animalistic survival instincts, but they’re still there. He says he wasn’t the one who attacked LA Knight. However, he says if he had been the one, everyone would know because there would be none of LA Knight left.

From there, we go to the “Match Flo” spotlighting Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. The video package is a highlight reel of Rousey’s and Shayna’s reign of terror across SmackDown in recent weeks. This leads to Shayna’s entrance as she comes out for her match against Emma. Emma is shown backstage getting a prep talk from Madcap Moss (she called him Riddick!) who says that she needs to remind the world who she is, and that she belongs here. Emma gives him a kiss and heads out to the ring.

2. Shayna Baszler vs. Emma

Baszler picks up the win via rear naked choke and Emma taps out. Post match, Shotzi runs down to save Emma from a post-match beatdown. Shayna takes her out and threatens to break her arm. A returning Raquel Rodriguez runs down to save Shotzi, and Baszler bails out of the ring and up the ramp.

Next, we get a video package of Lacey Evans training. It highlights her background as a US Marine. It shows Lacey getting “back to basics.” Immediately after that, it’s a New Day, yes it is, and Kofi Kingston comes out for his match against Gunther in a non-title affair.

A video package highlighting Ricochet airs once we return from commercial (so Kofi has been in the ring this entire time, I guess). The pre-taped video shows highlights from his matches, as well as him training in a gym. He declares that we’re looking at the winner of the SmackDown World Cup. Barrett reminds us all that the winner becomes No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Title.

3. Kofi vs. Gunther (non-title match)

Braun Strowman comes down mid-match to manhandle Vinci and Kaiser at ringside. That takes care of Gunther’s backup as we go to break. Gunther picks up the win following a modified sidewalk slam. Haven’t seen that move from Gunther before. Cole called it “The Last Symphony.”

The Bloodline are backstage, getting ready to head out for a celebratory night out. The Usos send Solo and Sami off to get the car while they chat. Jimmy says he can’t believe that Jey is cool with Sami being in the Bloodline. He asks about how Jey caught Sami in a lie and if he mentioned it to Sami yet. Sheamus appears out of nowhere with a shillelagh to lay out both Usos. He says that he and McIntyre will be waiting for them when they’re ready and walks off, leaving the tag champs laying.

Damage CTRL make their entrance and you’re not going to believe this, but we get another video package recapping what happened in the women’s WarGames match. They boast about no one on the SmackDown roster having the fortitude to face them and here comes Liv Morgan. Liv charges the ring even though she’s outnumbered. She does okay to start but the numbers game catches up to her before TEGAN NOX RETURNS TO MAKE THE SAVE!!!! Wow! Tegan is back! She and Liv use a kendo stick to send the heels packing! Welcome back, Tegan!

4. Ricochet vs. Santos Escobar – SmackDown World Cup Final

Santos makes his entrance, we go to commercial, and when we come back, we get a pre-taped video promo from Karrion Kross and Scarlett. They’re seemingly setting their sights on Rey Mysterio. Cole and Barrett run down next week’s segments for SmackDown. We get a pre-taped video promo from Uncle Howdy reminding us to “revel in what we are.” And after all of that, Ricochet makes his entrance for the main event.

Ricochet wins a wild back and forth match with his 630 splash off the top rope. What a match! That was a great showing from both men. Ricochet wins the SmackDown World Cup and becomes the No. 1 contender for the IC title. He holds the trophy and pyro goes off before Gunther comes out to confront. Two weeks from tonight, Gunther and Ricochet battle for the IC championship. The two men stare each other down as SmackDown comes to a close.
