WWE SmackDown Results – June 20th, 2017: Money In The Bank Fallout, Jinder Mahal vs. Luke Harper

Welcome to SmackDown Live. We see Tamina, Natalya, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair arguing outside of Daniel Bryan’s office. He told them to stay calm and wanted to hear from James Ellsworth and Carmella before he talks to them.

Carmella and Ellsworth walked out to the ring. Ellsworth introduced the first women’s MITB winner. Carmella wanted to address all of the controversy. She brought up how she has been trending worldwide for the last 48 hours. Carmella doesn’t care if Ellsworth helped her win the match. She said that she has been underestimated since she was called up to the main roster and is tired of hearing about the other women. Carmella brought up how there has been interference in past MITB matches. Carmella called out the fans for tweeting Bryan to address the finish of the match. Carmella blamed the fans for Bryan to trying to figure out if she should keep the contract. She said that there are no rules in the match so how can she break the rules there are no rules. She said that there is not a damn thing that the fans can do about it. Carmella and Ellsworth walked to the back.

We see Bryan talking with Flair backstage. Flair said that he doesn’t need to worry about her neck injury and that he needs to act. Bryan said that the match was a No DQ match. Flair said that they were all excited to make history on Sunday and that he needs to do the right thing.


Dolph Ziggler vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Luke Harper vs. Jinder Mahal will take place later in the show.


-Commercial Break-

The New Day said that they expected to come out here with the SmackDown Tag Team Titles but they were wrong. New Day said that The Usos staged a prison break out of their own prison. They introduced the warden, which was Big E, who said that there are no easy cuts in their prison.

-Commercial Break-


Singles Match: Big E vs. Jimmy Uso


They start brawling and Jimmy caught him with an elbow. Big E blocked a dive and hit a series of belly-to-belly suplexes. Jimmy landed a samoan drop for 2. Jimmy kicked Kingston in the face on the floor then Big E planted Jimmy with a slam. Big E went for the Big Ending but Uso blocked it and rolled to the floor. Kingston took out Jey with a dive off the apron. Jimmy got in the ring and missed a super kick and Big E hit the Big Ending for the win.

Winner: Big E.

We see Tamina and Natalya complaining about Carmella winning the MITB briefcase to Bryan in a backstage segment. He told them that he would have a decision shortly.

-Commercial Break-

Naomi cuts a backstage promo about how Carmella’s big win is unfortunate. She is confident that Bryan will make the right decision and doesn’t care who her next challenger will be next. We see Lana walk up and told her that Naomi should be thanking Carmella because she had the championship won on Sunday. Lana challenged Naomi to a rematch. Naomi said that she beat her fair and square.


Tom Phillips did a backstage interview with Randy Orton. He said that he saw red when Mahal put their hands on his father at MITB. He said that this is not just about him winning back the WWE Title but now it’s personal and far from over. He vowed to hurt Mahal and threatened to go to India and RKO his entire family. He said that Mahal made a mistake and there is no turning back.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Dolph Ziggler vs. Shinsuke Nakamura


They lock up, and Ziggler knocked him down. He worked over the left arm of Nakamura after hitting a knee drop.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Nakamura attempting a comeback with a series of strikes. He caught him with a spinning kick. Nakamura with a knee strike in the corner then placed in on the top rope and hit an another knee strike for 2. Ziggler took out Nakamura left knee and hit the fameasser for a near fall. Ziggler rolled him up for 2. Nakamura went for an arm triangle then an armbar but Ziggler poked Nakamura in the eye. Ziggler reversed a suplex and hit the Zig Zag for a near fall. Ziggler locked in the sleeper hold but Nakamura got out of it. Nakamura hit a big boot then his finisher for the win.


Winner: Nakamura.

Bryan told Sami Zayn that he would face Baron Corbin next week.

-Commercial Break-

Kevin Owens walked down to the ring and said that the only reason he was not the MITB winner is due to the other five Superstars trying to end his career. He said that it was not fair but he is still in the ring and unbroken. He issued an open challenge for his US Championship. This led to AJ Styles walking out to the ring and wanted to take the match. Owens said that this open challenge was for someone from Dayton, Ohio. This led to Chad Gable walking out to the ring. Owens said that Gable is not from here. Gable said that he just moved to Dayton this morning. Gable gave him his new address and Styles claimed to know it.

United States Championship Match: Kevin Owens © vs. Chad Gable

Gable hit a series of slams then the ankle lock but Owens got out of the ring. Styles joined the announce team and we cut to break.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Gable in control of Owens. Gable hit a moonsault off the top rope for 2. Owens missed a cannonball in the corner and Gable hit a german suplex for 2. Owens hit the powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Owens – Still Champion.

Bryan booked Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawley vs. The Usos for next week’s show. If they can win the match then they will earn a championship match.

-Commercial Break-

Bryan walked out to the ring and said that he has come to a decision after speaking with Shane McMahon. He brought out Tamina, Flair, Lynch, Natalya, and Carmella. He said that MITB Ladder Matches have no rules and it doesn’t state in the rule book that you can’t have someone grab the briefcase. He brought up how there has been interference in other MITB Ladder Matches. Bryan said that no one else has ever had someone not in the match hand the briefcase over to someone that is in the match. Ellsworth called Bryan’s baby a hippie and made him soft. He told Bryan to get this over with. Bryan told him to shut up and threatened to punch him in the face and fire him. All of the women started arguing with each other. Bryan told Carmella to hand over the MITB briefcase. Bryan booked a women’s MITB Ladder Match involving all of the women next week on SmackDown. All of the women started brawling. Lynch locked in the disarmer on Carmella to end the segment.
