WM31 Fatal 4-Way?

There seems to be a lot of hype and theory into the main event at Wrestlemania 31 becoming a Triple Threat Match with both Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan going on to face Brock Lesnar for the World Heavyweight Championship, in what is basically a repeat of what happened last year at WM30.

This would undoubtedly be one hell of a match, well worthy of headlining the biggest show of the year. The Superman, The Underdog with the Beard and The Beast Incarnate; all three men of differing styles, backgrounds, sizes and characteristics. But it just feels too similar to the Triple Threat year, and that would detract so much from the occasion and the prize at stake.

My personal opinion is that the powers that be should go along with this Triple Threat match, but add some Authority to it and make it a huge Fatal 4-Way. After all, we’ve had The Authority personas thrust in our face for most of the major story lines for near enough two years now, and why should that stop at WM31? Luckily they have just the man for the job in Seth Rollins. He has certainly proven himself capable of coping with big matches, stealing the spotlight in many of his opportunities so far. I’m not saying he will necessarily win (not to start with anyway, can’t forget the MITB briefcase….), but he adds an interesting dynamic to the match as the high-flying risk-taker who has previous issues with the other three men in the match.

It also gives the match a credible heel to get the crowd going and take some of the heat from Roman Reigns, whilst also giving him an ever bigger ‘superhero’ push should he be successful in the match. Just having Bryan, Lesnar and Reigns battle it out is going to direct a lots of boos in the direction of Roman Reigns, leaving him as basically a modern ‘Boo-tista’.

Finally, it still opens up the return of Randy Orton, although I think he’ll probably back before then to try and take out Seth Rollins.

There is of course an alternative option of the planned Orton vs Rollins match at WM31 to go ahead, then Seth inserting himself into the main event to make it a 4-way.

By making the main event a 4-way competition, it at least shows the creative people backstage are still trying to come up with new ideas rather than playing on what has worked in the past.
