The rumors are true. WWE is, in fact, bringing the Punjabi Prison back. There have been rumors that WWE was talking about doing so and PWinsider.com was able to confirm it.

WWE will have WWE Champion Jinder Mahal defend the championship against Randy Orton inside the Punjabi Prison at the upcoming Battleground PPV.

For those who may not recall, the Punjabi Prison features two cages made of Bamboo. The inner cage has a door on each side that can only be opened by a referee at the request of one of the combatants and can only remain open for 60 seconds. Once combatants are within the realm of the outer cage, the only way to win is climb over and escape. WWE staff have already made repairs to the prison, which had been stored at the company’s warehouse. This marks the third time that the prison will be used.

The Battleground pay-per-view event takes place on July 23, 2017, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. This will be an exclusive SmackDown Live brand event.
