Do We Care about Reigns vs. Lesnar???

Short Answer…no.

A high percentage of us collectively groaned when it was first suggested that Reigns vs. Lesnar would be this year’s WrestleMania Main Event.  We hoped the WWE would have a change of heart but with 6 days until the “Granddaddy of them all” (I love saying that term), looks like we are stuck with this match.

So, is there anything WWE could do to make us care about this match…even in the slightest bit?

Probably Not!

But the creative team can make the most out of this match by setting up future feuds and garnering real heat for Reigns.  The key to all of this of course is, Paul Heyman.  The rumblings and speculation have begun on what to do with Brock Lesnar’s advocate if and when Lesnar’s contract expires after WrestleMania 34.  The most popular opinion is for “The Guy” to become a Paul Heyman Guy.  Nothing says heel turn quite like a manager uh, advocate screwing over a legitimate bad ass and siding with the guy no one likes.  Paul Heyman completing this Judas act turns gung-ho Reigns fans to the majority of us…let’s just call us Reigns non-fans, and gives Roman a fantastic mouthpiece that he doesn’t necessarily need but would immensely enhance his promos.

Yes, I Get it…It’s been done.

A Paul Heyman turn isn’t the most original idea.  Heyman has turned his back on his clients before and has even done it to Brock before.

So let’s take it up a notch.  What could really get heat on Roman…besides everything else he’s done in the last 3 years?

Screw with arguably the two most popular WWE Superstars at the same time…while all eyes are watching.

Reigns should destroy AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura
AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura

I would love to see Reigns come back out at the conclusion on Styles and Nakamura match. (In my opinion, these two should close the show) Nakamura goes over in a classic and just when he and AJ are doing the “show of mutual respect” bit in the ring, Reigns destroys them both.  The next night on RAW, Heyman can cut a promo not only condemning Lesnar but proclaiming Reigns the biggest star in the WWE’s history.  Heyman can run down Nakamura and Styles stating they get all the attention while Reigns is the face of WWE.

This could easily reignite an AJ/Roman feud for the summer if Styles does, in fact, come to RAW in a “Superstar Shake-up.  This potential rivalry of the summer would be more impactful than the one 2 years ago that seem to come out of nowhere and felt like it just bought time for the WWE to come up with something else.

Looking down the line adding Heyman to the equation does so much more for Reigns and the WWE as a whole.

  • Opportunites for new feuds with Finn Balor, Matt Hardy or Bobby Lashley (fingers crossed)
  • Create a Paul Heyman lead Shield to run roughshod over the entire roster
  • Or an eventual return to a babyface that would be better received and make him the star that Vince has wanted.

But those are just my thoughts…

What do you think???
