Welcome to another edition of eWN Round Table, where we gather some of the most active writers here on eWrestlingNews and share the platform to answer some questions surrounding a centralized topic, upcoming event, etc.
This is meant to showcase the potential for both a wide range of perspectives as well as how sometimes, there can be a group consensus no matter what your viewpoint is, so we also invite all of you to join in on the discussion by answering these questions yourself in the comments section below.
For this particular volume, we’ll be focusing on All Elite Wrestling’s upcoming AEW Revolution 2020 event.

1) “What do you think of the name AEW Revolution?”
MANGO: It’s far too generic and uninspired. They can say the company is a revolution, but why is this pay-per-view called that? It’s like when TNA called their event Genesis. The genesis of what? There have been worse names, but it feels like this wasn’t even an attempt to try to be original.
CARTER: I love the name, fits perfectly into the start of the year and sums up what AEW is trying to do for pro-wrestling
STAPLE: Kind of a generic name, but I suppose it’s not too bad. I’ve heard worse.
MITCHELL: The name is pretty good. One of the slogans of AEW is that they are leading a wrestling revolution, so here it is.
ABSLER: I like the name AEW Revolution. I think it really illustrates how AEW feels about their place in the wrestling industry and just sounds like a classic wrestling show name.
SCAFIDE: Don’t care about it, but I also didn’t think about it until I read the question. Next.
CASSADA: I like the name because AEW has said they’re changing the landscape of professional wrestling and revolution fits in with their goal.
COOK: It’s not great. It’s not horrible. Revolution is a pretty common word to the world of professional wrestling. The short-lived World Wrestling All-Stars promotion titled its second PPV event Revolution. World Championship Wrestling had a stable named The Revolution featuring Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn & Shane Douglas. TNA Wrestling had James Storm lead a Revolution group of his own in 2014. The United Kingdom has Revolution Pro Wrestling. WWE had a New Year’s Revolution event from 2005-07. It’s kinda generic, but it’s not bad. It is what it is.
