NXT star Finn Balor mentioned during his appearance on Talk Is Jericho that the first time he was contacted by WWE was in 2009, but he decided it was best to stay in Japan at that time.
Balor went on to say that he was contracted by them again a few years later, but just turned heel in NJPW and turned them down because he was excited about his heel run that just took place.
The reason he decided to go to WWE is because he was getting into his mid-30s and didn’t want to regret not making the move to WWE so he signed with them.
