Plus, there’s that lingering thing Randy Orton said on Talking Smack about how fans might not even know that they want to see him face Cena again. I would think the audience is smart enough to know whether or not they’d be interested, but we’re talking about WWE here—the company that tries to justify how it doesn’t matter whether Cena or Roman Reigns get booed or cheered so long as they get a reaction in general, but then refuses to turn either of them heel because they don’t want them to get the wrong reaction, because apparently the type of reaction does matter and they just don’t want to fully acknowledge the boos.
While it took me a long time to get to this position, I’ve gotten to the point where I back the anti-Reigns sentiment (to a certain extent) and would actually like to see Cena on top of his division, so I’m rooting for him to retain the title. I don’t think it will happen, as I think our #1 pick is a foregone conclusion, but if Cena wins and we get a better option for the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania, then I’ll be game for it.
1. Bray Wyatt
Randy Orton’s Royal Rumble victory pretty much sealed the deal with this one. As much as I’m against the idea that he and Bray Wyatt should be fighting for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, I’m 100% on board with he and Bray Wyatt fighting in some fashion at WrestleMania. It’s simply the most interesting story to tell based off the past several months of their careers. If we were to get Orton against Cena, would anybody care? It’s doubtful.
For me, the time I wanted to see Wyatt as champion passed by well over two years ago and now, I just feel like this choice combined with several other matches rumored for the biggest show of the year are showing that there are some weird priorities in WWE at the moment, but while I’m opposed to thinking that these two are worthy of taking the title off AJ Styles just to put it on Cena for two weeks to take it off him again, I know there are people who disagree with me and are actually into this feud. In any scenario, my personal preferences have nothing to do with giving predictions on what I think will happen, since if I wrote this from the style of what I hope would happen, we’d have a completely different lineup as Chris Jericho would have won the Royal Rumble and this Elimination Chamber match would have been won by Samoa Joe so he could challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Clearly, that’s not what we got, so that’s now where WWE is going, and all signs seem to point to Wyatt heading into WrestleMania with the title in-hand so he can lose it to Randy Orton.
