As noted, Alberto Del Rio signed a deal with WWE that would see him make $1,450,000 per year downside with a reduced schedule, which is largely because WWE felt they needed a big Hispanic star. Del Rio was in talks with WWE for several weeks.
In an update, WWE contacted Dave Meltzer on Friday and stated that the $1,450,000 is not accurate. Instead, they claimed it was “about a one-third of that number.”
Bryan Alvarez following up on Sunday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live by saying that he has talked to several people who say it’s most significantly way more than one-third of that.
