2007’s tournament winner was Chris Hero. Hero would defeat Karl Anderson in his tournament qualifying match. He would go on to defeat Austin Aries, Claudio Castagnoli, Human Tornado, Rocky Romero, and Roderick Strong in the finals of the tournament. Hero would eliminate every single person in this match, which is absolutely incredible! Hero’s championship opportunity would come at ROH Glory By Honor VI, where he would lose to Nigel McGuinness in 9:05. Hero would never win the ROH World Championship during his stint in the company.
Hero would go on to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2016, where he would wrestle under the name “Kassius Ohno”. He would engage in feuds with Matt Riddle and Lars Sullivan. In 2019, Ohno would be sent to NXT UK. In NXT UK, he would not end up doing much. Ohno’s last match would take place on March 7, 2020, where he would come up short in an NXT UK Championship #1 Contender’s Battle Royal on NXT UK.
He was released from the company later that year and has not resurfaced in any promotion for the time being.
